To celebrate Grange Hill's 30th anniversary, the BBC released this DVD box set containing series 1 and 2 of this ever-popular cult BBC teen drama set in the fictional comprehensive of Grange Hill.
The design for the DVD menus needed to truly reflect the British institution of the programme. Liaising with the BBC, I headed down to the BBC archives to have a look through the immense library of photograph negatives taken throughout the original filming. Amongst them were images of the film sets. We picked out a few and thought they would make ideal menu backgrounds. I then took the backgrounds into Photoshop and com-posited menu options onto the walls to make it look as if they were part of the picture. Over the course of the menu loops the notices get scribbled all over as if being de-faced by the Grange Hill pupils.
